We made it!

February 24, 8:00 p.m. Beijing

We're here safely, thank God. We arrived about two hours ago, and Ana is already asleep in the hotel. She was terrific and maintained her sense of adventure and independence...had to pull her own luggage through the airport. She's a great traveler. The overseas plane ride was actually not so bad, although 15 hours sitting on a plane is never easy. Ana made a friend, Grace, who is also five and on her way to pick up her little sister from China too. Her family is from Milwaukee, and Grace was adopted from China five years ago, so this is a homecoming for her. Sweet family, and I'm sure we'll get together with them again in Guangzhou. They get their new little girl on the same day we'll get Abby Lin, March 2. Ana and Grace had a ball together on the plane, which made the trip that much easier. I don't believe in coincidences...only moments of grace.
